About Tinted Studio

Mendy Boyd has been creating fiber art for many years, most notably in the form of hand made, custom apparel. Her first studio was a small laundry room in which sat a vintage Singer sewing machine. Having spent a significant amount of her youth designing and constructing her own clothing in this space, she progressed to Auburn University, where she studied fashion design and apparel production management. She grew a small clientele through her offerings of custom christening gowns and special occasion clothing from her next studio, a closet with a leaded glass window, in which sat her own used Bernina. She advanced her skills to include French heirloom sewing techniques as she welcomed each of her four children, delighting to create unique clothing for them and for others.

The studio grew to include instruments of pattern making and grading, as Mendy began work as a freelance pattern maker and product developer for a women’s apparel designer

Her household studio expanded further to include materials such as dried flowers, roots, bark, spices, and plants: the elements of the sustainable, time honored craft of natural dying.

Tinted Studio exists to preserve this fascinating art, and to offer artisanal plant dyed silk ribbon to discerning individuals and floral designers from the overflow of Mendy’s home studio.
